Today marks 49 days till my birthday.
Normally, I don’t count down to my birthday. I like celebrating my birthday (what’s not to love about a day that’s all about me?!) but it’s definitely not my favorite day of the year. However, this upcoming birthday marks a quarter century for me (!!!!!) so it feels like a bigger deal than previous birthdays.
24 has been a good year for me. I went to a lot of places, learned a lot at work, strengthened and developed friendships, managed my finances better, and, of course, stayed in touch with my family as well as I possibly could. It’s funny, because two years ago I would’ve given anything to forget the last 50 days of 23 (actually, I would’ve given anything to forget the majority of 23). But now? Now, I want to remember the last 50 days of 24.
Yesterday, I created an Instagram hashtag to countdown the last 50 days of being 24: #mpbdaycountdown. Kind of like how the #100DaysofHappy hashtag chronicles happy things over the course of 100 days, I want my hashtag to show snapshots of my life in my 24th year. If nothing else, it’ll serve as a reminder for future years when the finer details are lost in the distance of memory. But also, since I have a tendency to lose sight of the bigger picture, I want these 50 images to be a way of showing myself that overall, I’ve got it pretty good.
I adored Noah’s article on why he teaches diverse literature.
Sarah lists her podcast recommendations. I’m determined to get into podcasts this summer!
Emily writes about finding what has value.
Boys, take note! Anna writes about what to expect when dating a Chinese girl. ALL TRUE!!!
Stereo’s posts are ones I drop everything I’m doing to read as soon as they go live. Lone Shoes was no exception.
The unexpected costs incurred by occasionally sleeping with your ex-boyfriend: a humorous, yet frighteningly accurate, post from Eleanor.
